Building Safety
The way in which we use and maintain our buildings on campus is just as vital as the research taking place within the buildings. Building use is an important aspect that should not be overlooked in order to ensure the safety of all staff, students, and visitors.
As you travel around campus pay close attention to how a building’s means of egress components are being used. Are there building evacuation maps posted throughout a facility? How/where are combustible materials being stored? Are fire doors closing and latching properly? Are emergency shower and eyewash stations being maintained to provide a means to flush eyes, face, or body of any chemicals or other type of hazard?
If you have any questions related to building safety please contact a staff member of Fire Life & Safety. If needed, a time can be scheduled to meet on site to discuss any issues or concerns you may have.
